Class 4A Fourth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret’s moved to 2-0 after shutting out Orono on the road Friday, 14-0.
Red Knights coach Jon Hanks said the defense continued to play well, as they did in the opener while the offense did enough to create separation from the Spartans in the third quarter.
Benilde quarterback Tommy Anderson completed 6-of-8 passes including two touchown passes to Henry Wolfe in the third quarter including a 35-yard connection with 7:05 left in the quarter.
Wolfe was also the leading rusher with 16 yards on one carry against a formidable Spartans defensive front. Turner Wine, Wolfe and John Landry each had four catches. Wine went for 109 yards receiving and Liam Ford had three catches for 41 yards.
Defensively, the Red Knights had six sacks as senior captain Ikenna Ujuagu and junior John Whitemore led the way with nine tackles each. Senior captain Braeden Fitzgerald had eight tackles and Patrick Kalb had two sacks.
The Red Knights have a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee at rival DeLaSalle (2-0).
