City officials celebrate completion of Mill Street parking ramp

Wayzata Mayor Ken Willcox addresses a crowd of residents, city leaders and project officials gathered for an Aug. 10 ribbon-cutting event for the Mill Street parking ramp. The 385-stall public ramp features low-energy LED lighting, four electric vehicle charging stations and a through-block pedestrian connection to Lake Street. The ramp’s north side was built partially into a hillside, which allowed room for two existing rows of parking stalls to remain on Mill Street. The step-down design also allows for the ramp’s top level to be accessed directly from Broadway Avenue. The cost for the project was $8.7 million, which was largely funded through tax increment financing from the Promenade of Wayzata TIF district. (Sun Sailor staff photo by Jason Jenkins)
