Crash on Highway 55 claims two lives in Plymouth

Leigh Roger Wold, 86, of Golden Valley, and Cecilia J. Wold, 15, of Plymouth, were killed in a multiple vehicle crash Aug. 3 when the vehicle they were riding in collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 55 and Xenium Lane/Northwest Boulevard in Plymouth.

The crash occurred at 2:46 p.m. Aug. 3, when a Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Ferlanders Jiles, 57, of Minneapolis, was traveling eastbound on Highway 55 and collided with a Honda CRV, driven by Leida Cobos, 48, of Plymouth, which was westbound on Highway 55 and attempting to turn left and go south on Xenium Lane, according to the report.

After the initial crash, the Honda came to rest between two other vehicles stopped at a red light in the northbound lane of Xenium Lane/Northwest Boulevard.

Leigh Wold was pronounced dead at the scene. Cecilia Wold died Aug. 4 at North Memorial Medical Center from her injuries. Cobos and another passenger were also transported to North Memorial.

Jiles was also taken to the hospital, and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Hennepin County Crime Lab, the State Patrol crash reconstructionists and the Plymouth Police Department are continuing to investigate the crash.
