Direct care program specialist Tammy Schexnaider of Partnership Resources Inc. in St. Louis Park has received a statewide Direct Support Professionals Award for exceptional performance in serving individuals with disabilities from the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation. Schexnaider, who works with senior adults and is educated in the field of gerontology, was the winner of the Enrichment Focus Award for the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
In presenting the award at the organization’s annual conference, Awards Committee Chair Lynne Megan said of Schexnaider, “She excels at developing client plans that are thoughtful, based on enriching the quality of life for each client, as well as providing educational and skill-building opportunities.”
Schexnaider said she seeks to use compassion and patience in her job as she helps people see their own potential to reach their goals and dreams.
“It is important for them to realize that they have choices and that they are able to blossom,” Schexnaider said.
She first worked in group homes in Florida before pursuing a career with day programs in Minnesota. She helps the people she serves to become integrated in the community.
Partnership Resources Inc. serves individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities area and is a member of the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation. The association represents more than 100 providers in the state and serves about 26,000 individuals with disabilities.
