Minnetonka Firecracker Run sprints July 4 into Excelsior

The Minnetonka Community Education will host the 41st annual Firecracker Run Tuesday, July 4 in Excelsior.

Runners can enjoy challenging, scenic terrain that includes stunning views of historic downtown Excelsior and Lake Minnetonka as they navigate the 1-mile fun run, 5K or 10K route.

The Firecracker Run kicks-off a full day of festivities in downtown Excelsior that includes a kid’s
parade, sand sculpture contest, Lucas Oil Air Show and, of course, fireworks.

Last year, more than 2,300 runners participated in the run, which is organized by Minnetonka Community Education and Excelsior Chamber of Commerce.

The details:
·Choose between a 1 Mile Fun Run, 5K and 10K.
·The 5K and 10K races are chip-timed.
·5K and 10K participants receive a wicking T-shirt. One-mile participants will have the option to buy a shirt. Preferred sizes guaranteed to pre-registered runners only.
·Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K.
·The first-, second- and third-place finishers in the 1-mile will receive a gift card.
·All races start at Excelsior Elementary, 441 Oak St., and end in the Excelsior Commons, Lake Street.
·The fun run starts at 7:30 a.m., the 5K run starts at 7:40 a.m., and the 10K run starts at 7:50 a.m.
·Race packet pick up will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 3, at Excelsior Elementary School.
·Same-day registration will be available on Tuesday, July 4, starting at 6:15 a.m. at Excelsior Elementary.
·One mile Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m.
·5K Run starts at 7:40 a.m.
·10K Run starts at 7:50 a.m.
·Race packet pick up will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday, July 3, at Excelsior Elementary School.
·Same-day registration will be available on Tuesday, July 4, starting at 6:15 a.m. at Excelsior Elementary.
