To the Editor:
I have lived in St. Louis Park for over 40 years and both of my kids went to St. Louis Park Public Schools.
We live in the Lake Forest Neighborhood, and in the last 10 years traffic patterns and volume have changed significantly since my kids started elementary school, and we need a change.
I urge St. Louis Park residents to support Brian Shekleton for the Ward 1 City Council seat. I have known Brian over 11 years (first when he was a legislative aide at the Capitol and now in his role at Hennepin County), and as I have gotten to know him over the years. I am impressed by his responsiveness, strategic thinking and vision for our city and region.
A high priority for me is safe roads where traffic speeds and infrastructure match our neighborhoods and anyone can feel safe driving, biking or walking, whether it’s a retiree, a mom or one of our growing crop of neighborhood kids. Brian understands that and is committed to achieving those goals when he is elected.
Another priority for me is to ensure the community continues to grow with our residents. I am essentially a lifelong resident of St. Louis Park and now an “empty-nester,” and I want to ensure there is housing stock that is affordable and fits with a range of demographics. Brian believes that to keep St. Louis Park a strong community we need to have enough housing options that you don’t have to leave St. Louis Park when life changes and you want to downsize or, on the flip side, you need more space or want to buy your first home.
I urge your support of Brian Shekleton; he will be a great representative for our ward!
