Medina woman arrested following pedestrian fatality in Plymouth

UPDATE: 7:25 p.m. June 13

A 56-year-old woman from Plymouth was killed after being struck by a driver who left the roadway just before 6 p.m. June 12 on County Road 101 and 8th Avenue, near Wayzata Free Church.

The driver, Luann Johnson, 56, of Medina was arrested for criminal vehicular homicide, according to the Plymouth Police Department. Blood test results are pending.

Initial investigation suggests Johnson was driving northbound when she left the roadway. The pedestrian, whose been identified as Mary Chris Singleton, 56, Plymouth, was walking northbound along the sidewalk, and was struck from behind. She was pronounced deceased at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

A state crash reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
