Tennis nearly sweeps Richfield, Kennedy in conference action

Park boys tennis went 2-1 last week losing to Chaska 4-3 on May 2 in a Metro West Conference match before nearly sweeping both Richfield (6-1) and Bloomington Kennedy (7-0) to close out the week on May 3 and 4.

No. 1 singles player Haim Lyubeznik lost 6-4, 6-4 to Richfield’s top singles player in very well played match on both sides of the match.

Against Chaska, No. 2 singles player Adam Johnson won a marathon match.

The previous week Park came up short against Armstrong, 4-3 in another conference match. The No. 3 doubles team of Collin Perkins/Dylan Brandt won 6-2, 7-5 while Jared Zirkes and Rafe Covin won in straight sets at third and fourth singles, respectively.

Park hosts Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. to close out the regular season. Team sections begins May 17.
