Tapestry Interfaith Women learn about Islam

fw04nwtapestry3More than 100 people attended Tapestry Interfaith Women’s most recent event April 27 at the Northwest Islamic Community Center in Plymouth. Founded in 2016 by three Plymouth women of various faiths, Tapestry Interfaith Women’s mission is to promote religious understanding and acceptance through dialogue between women and youth of the many faiths, while providing service to the community. The event included a brief educational presentation by the center’s Sunday School students on the traditions and pillars of the Islam faith. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions. Attendees also participated in service projects, which included donating household items for Lutheran Social Services to assist recent Twin Cities refugees, many of whom are seeking political asylum from Myanmar; and decorating study journals to be used for classes, such as English as a second language. This was the last event for Tapestry Interfaith Women before a summer break. Events will be planned again in the fall. To follow the group’s events on Facebook @tapestry.interfaith.
