Letter: Bird Bash 2017 was a huge success

To the Editor:
The Seven Dreams Education Foundation’s signature event, “Bird Bash: Making Dreams Take Flight” was a tremendous success!

Last month, our community gathered for an exciting night of giving in support of our schools, and together, we achieved our fundraising goal of $50,000. Funds raised this year will support a district-wide initiative to infuse all third-grade classrooms with more culturally and socially diverse literature. Additionally, teachers will receive training to help implement the teaching of these new texts and there will be community literacy events during the 2017-18 school year.

The foundation is grateful for the continued support of our community at so many levels, from teachers and district staff, civic and business leaders, and parents and community stakeholders. Together, we are making great things happen for our students.

The “Seven” in our name represents the seven communities in the Robbinsdale Area School district: Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, Plymouth and Robbinsdale.

With sincere thanks to our community, on behalf of the Seven Dreams Board of Directors and Bird Bash Committee,
