Minnetonka teacher candidate for ‘Teacher of the Year’

Out of 135 candidates, Niki Danou, a second-grade teacher at Groveland Elementary School in Minnetonka, has earned a spot as a candidate for 2013 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
The winner will be announced Sunday, May 5, at the Marriott Minneapolis Northwest in Brooklyn Park. Until then, a panel of 25 community leaders will name a group of semifinalists and finalists.
Candidates include pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, from teachers from public and private schools. This is the largest pool of candidates since 2005.
