Minnetonka couple killed in western Minnesota four-vehicle crash

A Minnetonka couple was killed yesterday morning in a four-vehicle crash 22 miles southeast of Moorhead on Interstate 94.

The crash occurred 11:30 a.m. when the car driven by Judith A. Reid, 49, of Minnetonka, attempted to pass between a semi-truck in the left lane and a snowplow in the right lane westbound near the Barnesville exit, according to State Patrol Officer Sgt. Jesse Graybow.

Reid’s 1999 Buick Park Avenue struck both vehicles, stalled in the right westbound lane, and was struck in the rear by a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Reid and Sean L. 49, of Minnetonka, were pronounced dead at the scene, said Graybow.

Ray’s son, Evan M. Ray, 16, of Minnetonka, was seriously injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to a Fargo hospital, Graybow said.

Graybow said visibility was very limited at the time of the crash because of blowing snow across the highway.

“We didn’t get that much snow, but with the wind and flat land around here, it created a real issue,” he said.

The drivers of the semi truck and snowplow had no apparent injuries, and the pickup driver suffered minor injuries, said Graybow.

Graybow said his office responded to 17 crashes that day in its district and 87 other calls involving vehicles that had driven into ditches are otherwise needed roadside assistance.
