Three Rivers Board awash with new faces
Five Commissioners took the oath to office at the Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners meeting Jan. 17 with Judge Ronald Abrams presiding.
Four of the five commissioners will serve for their first term at Three Rivers: Penny Steele – District 1, Jennifer DeJournett – District 2, Daniel Freeman – District 3 and John Gunyou – District 4.
Commissioner John Gibbs, District 5, was re-elected to a second term in November and will continue to serve his role.
The Board of Commissioners unanimously elected Gunyou as Board Chair for 2013. Freeman was elected vice-chair.
“We are a diverse group of individuals who are united by a common commitment to maintaining the quality natural resources, services and facilities we have all come to expect from such a great organization,” Gunyou said at the meeting. “The foresight and stewardship of our predecessors has permanently preserved tens of thousands of acres of prairies and woodlands, wetlands and waterways, parks and trail. They have entrusted us with the legacy that makes our communities truly special, and I am confident that we all remain committed to honoring and sustaining the enduring legacy.”
