Concert Feb. 1 at Mount Calvary
The Gustavus Wind Orchestra from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, in Excelsior.
Conducted by Dr. Douglas Nimmo, the wind orchestra will be on a nine-day concert tour to selected cities in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.
The wind orchestra’s concert program includes music that is familiar and contemporary, challenging and provocative. Works by renowned American composers Aaron Copland, Percy Grainger, John Philip Sousa, contemporary compositions by David Holsinger, Jack Stamp and David Gillingham, will be performed.
The concert is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted.
