Excelsior listening to hotel concerns
To the Editor:
I applaud the city council for paying attention to the Heritage Preservation Commission’s concerns in regard to the Excelsior hotel plans.
We have a beautiful and historic town that deserves careful consideration when new structures are being planned. I do question, though, what happened to planning regarding the new business at the corner of County Road 19 and Water Street?
The “STEELE” sign is the first thing you see as you enter Excelsior. It is unattractive and certainly does not contribute to the charm of our town.
I feel the business owners should have been (and still should be) required to modify the appearance of the sign to blend in with the town’s character.
