BSM choirs, bands and orchestras in concert

For the first time, Benilde-St. Margaret’s is hosting a combined Christmas concert of choir, band and orchestra students.

The concert at the school’s theater, 2501 Hwy. 100 S. in St. Louis Park, will feature traditional Christmas music as well as other arrangements and a sing-along. The concert is Monday, Dec. 17, with junior high performers beginning 6 p.m. and senior high groups following at 7:30 p.m.

In March, the three musical groups participated in a cooperative concert as a tribute to injured student Jack Jablonski. The directors have decided to replicate the format for Christmas, with songs featuring each separate group as well as combinations of the groups. About 440 students will perform, with nearly 300 of those being singers.

BSM’s band director is Paul Keefe, Kristina Lantz directs the orchestra, and Nancy Stockhaus and Jere Lantz lead the choirs.
