Celebrate winter solstice Dec. 22 with Three Rivers
The Three Rivers Park District is hosting “Winter Solstice Sunset Celebration” 3-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Lowry Nature Center, 7025 Victoria Dr., in Victoria.
Celebrate the longest night of the year with fire, music and darkness. Create a warm fleece hat, find your way along the blindfold blizzard walk and compose a winter poem. Follow Old Man Winter to the bonfire for the traditional “tying down the sun” and burning of troubles. Sing ancient winter carols and enjoy cookies and wassail (cider), symbolizing the hope that summer will return.
Cost is $5 and reservations are required by Dec. 21. Call 763-559-6700 to make reservations. This program is open to all ages.
