Head coaches in the Lake Conference select the team each year.
The All-Lake players from Tonka are junior quarterback Nick Rooney, senior fullback Andre Eubanks and senior defensive back Bennett Celichowski.
Skipper head coach Dave Nelson said all three All-Lake picks played key roles.
“Nick has a great arm and ran the team very, very well,” said Nelson. “Andre did it all for us as a blocker, receiver and runner. Bennett was a steady, smart players; one of our leaders on special teams.”
The Skippers finished 5-6 overall with a late-season surge that included playoff wins over Hopkins and Maple Grove.
Tonka’s season ended with a 21-18 state quarterfinal loss to eventual Prep Bowl champion Eden Prairie in the state Class 6A quarterfinals.
“The Lake Conference is a very tough league,” said Nelson. “We had some injuries during a tough stretch of games against Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Hopkins. Edina [the Lake champion] had a great year and won the close games.”
In addition to their three All-Lake selections, Minnetonka has five All-Lake honorable mention picks – senior wide receiver George Buchner, senior offensive tackle Jake Bush, senior inside linebacker Mike Redmond, junior strong safety Anthony Tatum and senior center Elliot Tobin.
All-Lake players from the other four schools are as follows.
Edina: Marley Allison, Ian Collins, Deon Dorvil, Coleman Foley, Mark Handberg, Patrick LeCorre, Miles Lerner and Kevin Placide.
