Northwest College of St. Paul announced that Alyssa Laansma of Plymouth was named as a semifinalist in the 2012 National Association of Teachers of Singing Minnesota Singing Auditions.
Laansma is a student of Catherine Larsen and is a sophomore pursuing a degree in vocal music education K-12. Laansma is also a 2011 graduate of Armstrong High School.
A total of 13 singers attended the auditions held at St. John’s University in early November. Laansma is a soprano and placed with five other semifinalists.
