New pastels exhibition at Hopkins Arts Center
A new pastels exhibition, “Capturing Narratives,” by Roxanne Richards, opens Thursday, Dec. 6, and runs to Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins.
A free public opening reception is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the arts center.
“Life is full of stories,” said Roxanne Richards. “The stories in my work document my journey to understand what I see, feel and experience … I attempt to capture all my questions, foibles and adventures in the same colorful and energetic way I feel them.”
Richards finds dry pastel the perfect medium to explore her questions and record her adventures with color and energy. Being almost pure pigment, dry pastel provides the depth and range of hue she seeks.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
